31. Barbara Doran Duffy Howard, Age 83, of San Rafael, passed away March 29, 2010 at her daughter's home in Gridley, CA. She was born at Misericordia Home in Chicago on February 16, 1927 and was lovingly adopted by Bernard Thomas and Julia (O'Malley) Doran. Barbara was a beautiful singer and graced the stage with several big bands. She enjoyed reading and crafts in her free time. Over the years she worked at Marshall Field in Chicago, Hiller Helicopter in Mountain View, the Marin County Sheriff Department and Commerce Clearing House in San Rafael, moving to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for retirement. Barbara married naval officer Lawson Wayne Duffy in 1952 at St. Nicholas Church in Los Altos. Wayne died in 1972. Barbara was also preceded in death by sons, Patrick Joseph Duffy and Michael Doran Duffy and second husband, Dr. Frank Howard. She is survived by daughters Barbara Caramba-Coker of Gridley, and Julia La Rosa, of San Rafael, grandsons Thomas Mullin and PFC Antone La Rosa, granddaughters, Sophia La Rosa, Veronica La Rosa, Mikela Duffy and four great-grandchildren. Adored by her sons-in-law Gianni La Rosa, Raymond Mullin and Solomon Caramba-Coker, her cousin Patsy Duggan, and many friends and extended family members. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 473 Lincoln Avenue, Los Altos, CA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

SOUTH BELOIT – Loretta A. Collins, 74, of South Beloit, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at her home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Belvidere, to Edwin and Mary (Brickley) O'Brien. She married Laverne Collins on June 12, 1954, in Harvard. He died Feb. 14, 2000.
She was the owner of Easy Way Laundry for many years.
Survivors include seven children, Tim (Glenda) Collins, James Collins, Maureen (Alan) Collins-Schroder, Colleen (James) Callahan, Kathleen (Kenneth) Ponce, Eileen Bennington, and Laureen (Ryan) Spielman; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Eileen King of Harvard; and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, Wis.
The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in South Beloit.
